PSI seeks a Senior SBCC Advisor to lead a five-year initiative focused on providing person-centered, evidence-based HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services. This person will oversee the scale-up of SBCC services across the consortium who will provide technical and thought leadership on emerging strategic practices, trends, and insights across a single or multiple disciplines to inform organizational direction and provide leadership of project SBCC workstreams. Contribute to executing PSI’s strategy by identifying and integrating appropriate concepts into PSI’s programming through the development of thought leadership, sharing, and technical guidance. Independently maintain relationships with high-level internal stakeholders and external partners. Draw insights from the implementation of strategic initiatives and projects at PSI identifying and elevating insights for internal and external use and the development of global goods. Develop guidance and/or methods to uncover insights and translate them into quality program design. Maintain relationships with relevant global communities of practice to elevate PSI’s profile and identify emerging trends.

The Senior Advisor will be responsible for leading successful implementation of SBCC workstreams throughout the project lifecycle from start-up to close-out. They will be accountable for the delivery of all aspects of SBCC activities and oversight and supervision of project staff. They will lead SBCC strategy development, formative research and work planning and supervise the team responsible for implementation. The Advisor will serve as a subject matter expert internally and represent the project externally with donors, partners, and other stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Insights: Monitor and shape practices and trends affecting the global project. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of PSI’s evolving behavior science portfolio of projects. May design, execute, and evaluate PSI’s strategic programming.
  • Thought Leadership: Identify and curate best practice strategic approaches for programmatic positioning at all levels of the organization and across consortium partners. Identify strategic opportunities to incorporate and implement state-of-the-art practices within project activities.
  • Capacity Building: Strategically plan approaches for and development of materials for capacity building of project staff at all appropriate levels, infusing behavior science capacity across the project consortium.
  • Representation: Represent relevant strategic discipline to all relevant internal and external PSI stakeholders. Speak with authority on strategic discipline, including positioning PSI’s work appropriately in sensitive conversations.
  • Fundraising: Identify strategic fundraising opportunities and incorporate state-of-the-art strategic approaches to PSI fundraising efforts.
  • Program Management: Lead the execution of complex projects with short, medium, and long-term objectives.
    • Develop behavior science strategic priorities in collaboration with project senior management team. Develop and oversee workplans and budgets to execute strategic priorities. Monitor deliverables and progress, course correcting when necessary. Drive the utilization of evidence-based tools, innovations and best-practices to improve the project’s performance

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Master’s Degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant field preferred.
  • At least 10 years of high-impact, related experience. Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted.
  • Passion for driving strategic change in the interest of improved global health outcomes.
  • Experience working in an international context.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge in relevant strategic area. Ability to contribute to thought leadership in relevant strategic area.
  • Ability to contribute to the internal and external body of evidence in relevant technical area.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance to PSI network.
  • Ability to share knowledge internally and externally with global communities of practice; represents PSI externally.
  • Ability to solve problems with creativity and analyze complex issues using in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision and considerable latitude for independent judgement to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external colleagues. Able to work as a member of a team and independently.
  • Ability to lead development of technical approach for proposals and identify potential new business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and ability to collaborate with colleagues.
  • In-depth familiarity with USAID including USAID’s technical priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365. Familiarity with a quantitative or qualitative data analysis program preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in a relevant language other than English preferred.

Salary Ranges:*

PSI is committed to pay equity and transparency. We ensure pay meets the market within each country. This approach minimizes our impact on local talent markets and allows PSI to attract and retain employees, while staying cost-competitive.

Actual base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, external market analysis, and other business factors permitted by law. Hiring above the mid-point of the range below would not be typical in order to allow for potential future salary growth.

PSI is offering the following gross annual salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • For the United States (paid in USD): $108,000 (minimum) – $135,000 (midpoint) – $162,000 (maximum)
