WHY JOIN WFP?
The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger. Every day, WFP works to ensure that nobody goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, are able to meet their food and other essential needs.
The escalation of the hostilities which began on 7 October in Gaza, has resulted in an unprecedented level of destruction to the infrastructure inside Gaza and displaced nearly 1.7 million people, 75% of the population. The entire population of Gaza is facing high levels of acute food insecurity (IPC 3 and above; crisis or worse) with more than half the population of Gaza facing catastrophic levels of hunger.
WFP has scaled up its presence and operational capacity through various corridors and inside Gaza to deliver life-saving food assistance to more than 1.1 million beneficiaries. Egypt represents one of the major corridors to deliver food into Gaza and accordingly, WFP has established the required Supply Chain structures, capacities, and logistics mechanisms to facilitate the delivery of food from various sources into Gaza. WFP continues to establish required staffing structures at various levels and operational locations to facilitate the end-to-end corridor service under the Regional Bureau, RBC.
This Vacancy Announcement seeks to identify suitable candidates to build a “Consultant Roster of Logistics Officers” for upcoming openings in the Region. Through this roster, WFP’s Regional Bureau in Cairo for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe (RBC) is looking to support Country Offices in the region to perform secure, timely, and effective logistics operations, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need. We select our roster members on a competitive basis, and we are committed to promoting diversity and gender balance.
