Job Description
Join a nationwide not-for-profit organisation and global movement dedicated to improving the lives of children, families and communities. In this critical leadership role, you’ll drive 54 reasons’ work across Queensland, leading a diverse, dedicated and passionate team “making rights real” for children. Your knowledge, expertise and experience across operations, leadership, culture and partnerships will contribute to a child rights-focussed approach to our service delivery, positioning 54 reasons as a practice leader in the sector to deliver real and measurable outcomes for the people we work with.
54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. This is the place to realise your purpose.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time, permanent role, you’ll have a unique opportunity to lead and inspire our QLD team to achieve impact for children, families and communities. Ideally based in Brisbane (though we’ll consider other locations), and as a member of our 54 reasons Senior Management Team, you’ll determine direction and priorities of the organisation, reporting directly to the Executive Director.
You will make an impact by:
Developing a high performing and engaged team through strong management, coaching and recruitment
Leading the development, implementation and successful achievement of strategic and operational business plans in QLD
Effectively engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government, corporate and not-for-profit organisations, to build collaborative partnerships
Leading state-based business development activities to deliver program sustainability, and to ensure high quality programming
Successfully promoting 54 reasons across state and local media outfits whilst advocating for the rights of children
A place to feel valued:
You’re a natural leader with a strong operational and practice background, and an understanding of child rights focused service delivery. You have a passion for creative and strategic thinking. Your empathy and highly developed interpersonal skills enable you to engage with stakeholders across diverse backgrounds and experiences, and you have experience working effectively alongside First Nations communities. A strong leadership approach that combines operational excellence with flexibility and resilience will see you and your team achieve success.
This role requires:
Senior leadership experience, operating within complex environments
Ability to act as a non-partisan ambassador at the highest levels including government and media
Proven experience overseeing large Government grants, major private donors and/or complex operations, including financial management, budget development, risk management, health and safety and child safeguarding
Track record in successful business development, including the preparation of funding proposals
Demonstrated experience working with First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse communities and organisations, and a clear ability to build respectful and genuine partnerships with both
Demonstrated experience developing strategic partnerships with community, corporate and / or government stakeholders
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field within social sciences/human services
