Job Description:

The Senior Advisor for External Engagement and Resource Development provides global leadership to strengthen strategic partnerships, thought leadership, and resource development for increased education and child wellbeing impact. The Senior Advisor will lead, coordinate, and implement the team’s external engagement strategy, enabling collaboration across World Vision fundraising offices and teams. This role will ensure that WV is represented by subject matter experts in key forums, selected networks, associations, and boards aligned with Education strategic objectives and actively positions WV as an NGO of choice with key partners, multilateral agencies, businesses, donors, and other stakeholders. The Senior Advisor will monitor opportunities and support external event engagements annually, leading on the development and dissemination of thought leadership content, communications, and advocacy that meaningfully contribute to most vulnerable children learning and development.

Major Responsibilities:

Set Strategic Priorities

1. In collaboration with WVI’s Advocacy and External Engagement Team, develops and successfully achieves external Engagement

2. Maintain oversight of WV’s Sectoral external engagement activities

3. Strengthen and expand strategic partnerships at the global level, including multi-stakeholder partnerships, UN Partnerships, and multi-national corporations, as well as faith actors

4. Contribute to positioning WV to attain technical and strategic recognition and a thought leadership position within the global Education sector.

5. Identify shared objectives and initiatives with WV Global Capitals’ strategies

6. Ensure Alignment with A&EE ( Including in Global Policy positions)

7. Provide management support and advice for the global policy agenda/any campaign as per the Partnership strategy

8. With the Sector Quality and Innovation Advisor, ensure WV’s technical resources and standards align with and /or exceed industry norms

9. Benchmark capabilities and deliverables, processes, and systems in the Education programmes against market leaders and build towards best of class

10. Identify key external influencers and networks to promote and inform future programmes’ direction.

External Engagement

1. Relationship development and management of key global platforms and partners in the sector

2. Ensure alignment with A&EE

3. Support Global Campaigns and other Global A&EE teams

4. Ensure external engagement tools and processes are integrated into the sector practice.

5. Support Partnership Strategy, Strategic Imperatives, on partnering and collaboration

6. Identify key networks and associations and seek WV representation and participation

Provide Global Stewardship

1. Support the global resource development strategy, providing expertise, and actively positioning WV as a NGO of choice with key donors and stakeholders

2. Bring to bear evidence of WV contributions to Child Well-being in education in external relations for advocacy, donor relations, and building WV’s reputation.

Build Capability

1. Provide authoritative representation, technical, and policy advice to World Vision’s sector community of practice to enrich our understanding and external engagement in the sector.

2. Identify and build the capacity of subject matter experts to represent the sector externally.

3. Ensure external representations by subject matter experts reflect WV’s integrated understanding of development and child well-being, and faith identity

Ensure Accountability

1. Ensure appropriate use of evidence of results from WV’s work with relevant external stakeholders

Promote WV Way

1. Serve as relationship manager and cultivate specific partnerships with all multi-lateral agencies and work closely with WV A&EE and DM EE&RD (especially global capitals) team to realize WV’s sector strategy.

2. Provide management support and advice for the global policy agenda / global mobilization/ advocacy campaign as per the Partnership strategy.

3. Oversees and coordinates closely with the Support Offices’ sector team engagement and partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Bachelor’s degree in politics, International Relations, Communications, Marketing, Education, or international development

2. Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and networking skills.

3. Excellent presentation and writing skills

4. 10 years of experience with an international development organization, corporation, or government in the field of education, external engagement, communication, or policy influencing

4. Experience of working in partnership with an International Development Organization through networks, coalitions, and partnerships on policy themes.

Preferred Experience

Experience in working with faith actors on faith-related issues

Work Environment and Travel

The position require travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
