JOB DESCRIPTION
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Food Security, Livelihood Development, Environmental Science, or related fields.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food security, livelihood projects, or agricultural initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable farming, nutrition, and community-led food production.
- Experience working with school-based programs and local community engagement.
- Excellent report writing, project coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferable Skills:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage student and PTA committees.
- Effective communication and training capabilities for diverse community groups.
- Ability to work in conflict-affected and rural environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data collection tools.
Fluency in Arabic and English languages is an advantage.
. Supervision and Support for School Garden Committees
- Lead the establishment and maintenance of school gardens in targeted schools.
- Identify suitable agricultural techniques for sustainable food production.
- Coordinate with teachers, students, and community members to manage school gardens effectively.
- Oversee student and PTA committees responsible for managing school gardens.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to committee members on sustainable farming practices.
- Ensure effective coordination between committees, schools, and local agriculture partners to maximize garden productivity.
2. Capacity Building & Training
- Conduct training sessions for pupils and PTA committees on agriculture, nutrition, hygiene, and sustainable food production.
- Provide technical support on composting, irrigation, pest control, and seed selection.
- Develop educational materials tailored for school garden sustainability and practical food preparation.
3. Market Linkages & Food Security Strengthening
- Facilitate partnerships with local farmers to integrate fresh produce into school meal programs.
- Promote income-generating activities linked to school gardens for community and school benefit.
- Conduct market price monitoring to ensure stable food supply chains and accessibility.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure school garden success and contributions to school meals.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess garden management and productivity.
- Prepare progress reports highlighting garden performance, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
5. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with NGOs, government agencies, school administrations, and community leaders to align school garden activities with national food security policies.
- Organize community awareness sessions to encourage participation in school garden projects.
Represent the program in technical forums and stakeholder meetings related to food security and school feeding.
