General Duties:

Rapidly assess patient’s condition (airway, breathing, circulation, disability).

Prioritize patients according to severity.

Provide immediate life-saving interventions (oxygen, IV access, wound care, CPR).

Control bleeding, manage shock.

Administer emergency drugs (pain relief, cardiac drugs, antibiotics, etc.).

Monitor patient response to medication.

Work with doctors and paramedics during resuscitation and trauma cases.

Prepare patients for secondary level care

Observe and record vital signs, oxygen levels, IV settings.

Manage catheters, and IV infusions.

Providing the refers to the patients who need more specialized services.

Liaising with the pharmacy, store, EPI and MNCH as and when required.

Specific duties

Triage & Initial Assessment: Quickly assess patients’ conditions, prioritize care according to urgency.

Emergency Interventions: Provide life-saving measures such as CPR, wound care, hemorrhage control, oxygen therapy.

Medication Administration: Safely administer IV, IM, oral, and emergency medications (e.g., pain relief, antihypertensives, thrombolytics).

Stabilization: Prepare and assist in stabilizing critically ill/injured patients (airway management, vital signs monitoring, IV lines).

Procedural Support: Assist doctors during sutures, intubation, chest tube insertion etc.

Patient & Family Support: Provide updates, explain procedures, and give psychological support in emergencies.

Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and other staff.

Preparedness: Keep emergency equipment (suction, crash cart) ready at all times.

Coordination and Representation

  • Ensures smooth collaboration between doctors, other nurses, and support staff.
  • Communicates the patient’s needs, condition, and concerns to the healthcare team or family.
  • Attending meetings with colleagues and other partners which are working at the health center.
  • Representing a patient’s condition in a case discussion or briefing the doctor about changes in symptoms.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Ensure all patient consultations are documented and patient records completed.
  • Submit reports in a timely manner.

Other Duties

Requirements:

  • Qualified Nurse with a nursing diploma from a recognized medical university registered with local Ministry of Health
  • Training in Basic Life Support (BLS) desirable
  • At least 2 years clinical nursing experience in primary health care.
  • Ability to lead, train, supervise and facilitate other nursing staff and other health staff in their respective tasks.
  • Ability and flexibility to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with the local health representatives and partners.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and work to deadlines.
  • Experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment, displaying patience, compassion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible, adaptive, and willingness to work out of hours, sometimes throughout the night.
  • Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency Spoken and written in local languages.
  • Ability of speaking and writing in English is an asset.
