JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity – Distribution Worker (Causal Worker).

Post location: Gaza Field Office.

Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 6 months.

ROLE PURPOSE:

Distributing supplies to identified beneficiaries in the community. Responsible for receiving the supplies in the community, organizing and maintain the supplies at the field level, and routine counting of the supplies and completion of data collection tools.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Nutrition Program Officer.

Staff reporting to this post: None.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Assist in receiving, offloading, counting, and organizing WFP commodities (BSFP/TSFP) at the SCI Nutrition sites (MBAs)
  • Maintain accurate records of quantities received and distributed, ensuring proper documentation and reporting to the Nutrition Officer.
  • Support beneficiary registration and verification processes before distribution.
  • Distribute rations to beneficiaries according to the distribution plan and entitlement lists.
  • Ensure that distribution lines are orderly and that priority is given to vulnerable people (e.g. pregnant women, persons with disabilities).
  • Collaborative working with the WFP Data Collector for flow of information on supplies and beneficiaries
  • Report any discrepancies, losses, or damaged items immediately to the Nutrition Officer.
  • Support in crowd control and security coordination during distributions to ensure safety and smooth operations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the distribution site before, during, and after activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • Previous experience of working with an NGO
  • Previous experience of working with distributions ideally WFP
  • Excellent math and reading comprehension skills
  • IT literate
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work outdoors for extended periods

Desirable:

  • Any previous experience in working within the Health & Nutrition programs.
