Result of Service

The consultant will assist the Knowledge and Risk Unit in executing the Supply Chains Integrated Programme and assist the Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat:

• Update and implement the GEF 11177 knowledge management strategy.
• Support the implementation of the GEF 11177 communications strategy.
• Support the work to set up a visual identity and branding for the GEF 8 Supply Chains Integrated Programme (IP)
• Support the work to set up a knowledge management platform for the Supply Chains IP
• Support knowledge management coordination among the 8 child projects under the IP.
• Support the GFC Secretariat in managing its web portfolio including, but not limited to, the UNEP website and knowledge platform
• Support the GFC Secretariat in the lead up to, execution of and follow-up of IC 1.
• Support the GFC Secretariat in its functions listed in Section X.C of the text of the Global Framework on Chemicals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Industry and Economy Division Chemicals and Health branch, Knowledge and Risk Unit (KRU) who promotes scientific approaches and knowledge for the sound management of chemicals including through implementation of United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) resolutions and Global Environment Facility (GEF) projects and Global Framework on Chemicals Unit (GFC)- For a Planet Free of Harm (GFC) who is an inclusive, voluntary global policy framework on the safe and sustainable management of chemicals and waste request the support of one consultant The Support is needed from a web and knowledge management consultant expert

• to assist the GEF 11177 Global Replication to Eliminate Hazardous Chemicals from Supply Chains in the update and implementation of the project”s communications and knowledge management strategy and establishment of its knowledge management platform.
• To assist the work of the GFC Secretariat in accordance with the outcome decisions and resolutions of ICCM5, held in September 2023, to support the communication activities of the Global Framework on Chemicals in the lead up of the first International Conference and beyond and with its ongoing transition from the former SAICM Secretariat to the new GFC Secretariat.
• In particular, the consultancy will focus on the development and maintenance of chemical the chemicals knowledge platform.

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in computing/information technology or related field. University studies in combination with an additional three years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. o A minimum of 7 years professional experience with web-administration, content management or graphic design using related software and/or web/digital standards is required. o Work experience in developing or supporting knowledge management is preferred. o Work experience in web communications is desirable, including the use of tools such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, etc. o Experience working with IT developers and web designers to deliver a digital product is preferred. o Experience of working in an international and intergovernmental organization would be an advantage.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
