WE ARE

The Human Resources and Security Directorate General (DG HR) oversees recruitment policy,

also responsible for keeping buildings and employees safe and secure, making sure that work
continues during crises and dealing with online security.

Unit HR.DS.1 (Protection & Operations) of the Commission’s Security Directorate is composed of 3
sectors and is in charge of providing Protection services, running the Commission duty office
(operating 24h/7d) and managing the Guards team.

The Commission duty office (24h/7d) plays a key operational coordination role in crisis situations,
Alert State decisions and communication, ensuring a single chain of command by streamlining
incoming and outgoing information and coordinating the communication with the relevant internal
services. The duty office functions as the single-entry point for all security related matters for our
staff and responds to security and safety related emergencies. It acts as information sharing point
towards other EU institutions and Belgian national services, thus playing a critical role in crisis
situations, as well as in safety and security related incidents.

WE PROPOSE

A challenging and interesting job as a team member in the round-the-clock, 24-hour/7-day a week,
emergency service of the Commission. This team is the single-entry point for all security and
safety-related emergency situations in and around Commission premises in Brussels. Working in
shifts and dealing with a very wide range of matters, the jobholder plays an important role in
handling incidents and coordinating response to urgent requests that are of immediate concern to
the safety and security of colleagues. The Unit is seeking to hire 3 Security agents.

WE LOOK FOR

Three flexible and highly motivated candidates with a strong sense of responsibility. They will

demonstrate a highly developed service/customer-oriented approach, a calm attitude in emergency
situations and team player skills. The candidates have to be fully operational in English and French.
Previous security and/or safety experience would be an asset. The duty officers will need to be
prepared to work in shifts and occasionally intervene on the ground. In order to be allowed to
perform their job, the candidates must either be a holder of a valid security clearance up to the
level of “SECRET UE/EU SECRET” or be willing to undergo the national security vetting procedure.
