Job Overview/Summary:

The Capacity Building officer is responsible for working in partnership with the IRC Protection partners and key stakeholders. She/he will be responsible for designing, planning, and leading capacity-building activities for the partners, child protection actors ((I)NGOs, & Local NGOs), mainstreaming child protection in other humanitarian sectors, and community stakeholders in the areas of interventions and all over Lebanon. The latter will ensure that all CP Partner staff implement activities according to IRC case management and PSS curriculums and standards.

Major Responsibilities:

Technical:

  • Work closely with the CP partners implementing the case management and PSS activities for children and caregivers in the areas of interventions.

  • Develop trainings for the CP Partners staff on implementing case management and PSS activities for children and caregivers in the areas of the interventions.

  • Design and Co-design training packages for community stakeholders from different backgrounds (including but not limited to non-CP aid workers, community volunteers, and networks, municipal police, camp representatives) on different CP topics (similar to child safeguarding, safe identification and referrals, communication with the children).

  • Mainstream child protection concepts in other humanitarian sectors via training the non-CP actors on the relevant topics.

  • Set timely training plans based on identified needs for the partners and community stakeholders in the areas of the intervention.

  • Deliver, based on the needs, a set of Training of Trainers (ToT) with the support of the Senior CP manager, to the child protection actors on IRC curriculums.

  • Raise all the training materials and plans to the Senior CP manager for his/her review and approval prior to putting them into action.

  • Conduct weekly monitoring visits to the partner’s activities sites and share documented feedback on the visits with the partners and the senior CP manager.

  • Provide technical support and on the Job coaching to CP local partners implementing PSS activities for children and caregivers in the areas of intervention.

  • Ensure that partners are implementing case management and PSS activities with children and caregivers in accordance with IRC-CPs curriculums and standards.

  • Support partners to set detailed implementation plans for case management and PSS activities in the areas of intervention to Ensure that the partner targets are met by the end of the project period.

  • Liaise closely with the CP Senior manager and Monitoring and Evaluation team to co-develop M & E tools needed for training and other capacity-building activities, (including training pre/posttests, observation tools, database, training evaluation forms, and training reports).

  • Work closely with the M&E team to support the CP partner’s capacity on M&E.

  • Work closely with the M&E team and the Senior CP Manager on co-developing tools for external training and ToT.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Liaise with the Protection support manager to ensure that all logistical requirements for the training are finalized.

  • Build strong relationships with local partners, by maintaining mutual respect and vision.

  • Participate in the development of lessons learned and best practices.

  • Assume full responsibility for tracking individual participants in training databases, and ensure data entered is accurate and up to date.

  • Assume full responsibility for all relevant monitoring and evaluation activities (capacity-building reports, training evaluation reports, Pre – Posttest Analysis reports).

  • Document all training, workshops, and field visits using the appropriate tools.

  • Report data and draft narrative reports in a timely manner.

  • Participate in team meetings and partner meetings with the CP manager.

  • Participate in any technical CP meeting assigned by the Senior CP manager.

  • Other CP activities as requested by the supervisor.

Key Working Relationships:

  • Position Reports to: Senior Child Protection Manager.

  • Indirect Reporting: Protection Senior Coordinator.

  • Internal Contacts: Other members of the CP team and other IRC programs on the field.

  • External Contacts: Local partner.

Job Requirements:

Work experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of previous working experience in CP interventions and case management is required.

  • 2 years of previous working experience in delivering trainings.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering Training of Trainers (ToTs)

  • Experience in working with children is mandatory.

  • Experience is delivering training on Adult learning, and life skills is a plus.

  • Strong experience in PSS (CBPSS, FPSS, parenting skills, risk mitigation).

  • Previous Experience in working with local NGOs and community stakeholders is a plus.

  • Knowledgeable or/and experience in Child Protection Case Management and its National SOPs is a plus.

  • Coaching experience is preferable.

  • Previous experience in developing training materials on PSS for children and caregivers.

  • Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment is preferable

  • Previous working experience in highly vulnerable contexts (Child labor, children in conflict or contact with the law, etc…) is a plus.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.

  • Good communication skills, and good facilitation skills.

Educational Background:

  • University degree in psychology, social work, or a related field

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.

Computer skills:

  • Proficient in Word and excel.

Working Environment:

  • Office work and field trips, moreover this position may require some overnight stays.
