ITLOS stands for the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea. It is an independent judicial body established by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The Tribunal is based in Hamburg, Germany. Its role is to settle disputes arising out of the interpretation and application of the Law of the Sea Convention.
