JOB DESCRIPTION

Background
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are core principles at UNDP:  we value diversity as an expression of the multiplicity of nations and cultures where we operate, we foster inclusion as a way of ensuring all personnel are empowered to contribute to our mission, and we ensure equity and fairness in all our actions. Taking a ‘leave no one behind’ approach to our diversity efforts means increasing representation of underserved populations. People who identify as belonging to marginalized or excluded populations are strongly encouraged to apply. Learn more about working at UNDP including our values and inspiring stories.
UNDP does not tolerate sexual exploitation and abuse, any kind of harassment, including sexual harassment, and discrimination. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.
UNDP’s policy work carried out at HQ, Regional and Country Office levels, forms a contiguous spectrum of deep local knowledge to cutting-edge global perspectives and advocacy. In this context, UNDP invests in the Global Policy Network (GPN), a network of field-based and global technical expertise across a wide range of knowledge domains and in support of the signature solutions and organizational capabilities envisioned in the Strategic Plan. Within the GPN, the Crisis Bureau, CB, guides UNDP’s corporate crisis- related strategies and vision for crisis prevention, response and recovery.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery Team (DRT) of the Crisis Bureau (CB) has developed over the years a portfolio of projects and programs that allow the development of knowledge products, methodologies and tools to help national and local governments, as well as intergovernmental organizations to undertake post disaster recovery interventions while increasing its resilience capacity. The goal of the Team is to provide high quality advice and programmatic support to UNDP country offices for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of DRR activities. The portfolio of projects is developed in close consultation with key global, regional and national stakeholders. External partnerships include the GFDRR-World Bank, the European Union, and several UN agencies in their capacity of sector specialists.

The Recovery Team is also in the process of finalizing the design of a project “Strenghtening Disaster Risk Governance and Recovery Capacities”in partnership with EC-DEVCO, contributing to strengthening recovery capacities of national governments in selected countries in the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.

DRT Receovery Team requires dedicated support for the financial management of its Recovery Portfolio.
