UNICEF has been achieving important progress on education, child rights, nutrition, and WASH in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Challenges remain, though, and in spite of its vast physical size and limitless natural resources, the DRC poses a complex operational environment in terms of infrastructure challenges. Child poverty is widespread, and according to a recent UNICEF study, 80 percent of children aged zero to 15 years old face at least two major deprivations. How can you make a difference?
Under the supervision of the Chief of the Field Office and the chief Nutrition, the Nutrition Officer (P2), provides technical, financial and management support for the implementation and monitoring of program interventions of the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and prevention (IYCF, CPSr, Vitamin A Supplementation, Universal Salt Iodization) in DRC, particularly in Bunia, ensuring overall efficiency, effectiveness and delivery of results in accordance with UNICEF (CCCs) and national and international humanitarian standards.
The specific objectives of the position are i) Manage and ensure planning, implementation, close monitoring and reporting of the IMAM program in emergency and non-emergency settings (including pipeline and stock management), ii) Provide technical support, and capacity building to MoH partners and NGO partners, iii) Monitor a high level of funds and ensure appropriate fund utilization according to UNICEF financial procedures, funding proposals and donors conditions, iv) Ensure technical support to nutrition surveys and IMAM coverage surveys, v) Ensure coordination of HNO/HRP (Human Nutrition Overview / Humanitarian Response Plan) for UNICEF and nutrition sector for country program as required, vi) Provide technical guidance for the implementation of emergency nutrition response, vii) Monitoring and provide technical support to partners in Vitamin supplementation, IYCF and CPSr.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, nutritional epidemiology, or another health-related science field.
A minimum of two years of professional experience in a developing country in one or more of the following areas is required: nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care.
Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.
Language Requirements :
Fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.

Eligible UNICEF International Professional (IP) Staff Members on fixed-term, continuing or permanent contracts applying to a Temporary Appointment, which is dedicated to L3 (or L2) Response, may be able to retain a lien and their fixed-term entitlements.
