As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and Haiti. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $100 million in programs, and approximately 1,800 permanent staff based in New York City, Washington D.C, Nairobi, and country offices. Summary of Position
The qualified midwife will work closely with expectant mothers, providing prenatal care, assisting with labor and delivery, and offering postnatal support. Qualified midwives will promote a safe and positive birthing experience while ensuring the health and well-being of both the mother and the newborn.
Purpose
The purpose of the qualified midwife role is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to pregnant women and their babies. Midwives play a crucial role in supporting women throughout the childbirth process, including monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, promoting healthy pregnancies, facilitating safe childbirth, and providing postpartum care. Their aim is to empower women and promote positive birth experiences.
Engagement
The Qualified midwives will engage in a range of activities to fulfill their role in providing maternity care. She will conduct prenatal assessments, assist with labor and delivery, provide emotional and physical support during childbirth, educate women about pregnancy and childbirth, offer postnatal care, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for mothers and babies.
