The Senior Advisor, Solution Architect (SA) distills functional requirements and creates a technical model for implementation. You will be helping us to establish our IT Architecture practice, clearly articulating and documenting solutions to include technical specifications for software, infrastructure, data, and security/compliance domains. Solutions must be aligned with both relevant product roadmap(s) and BTS architectural standards.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Responsible for assisting in the establishment of an IT architecture practice and the adoption of an architecture and standards methodology. (20%)
  • Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation. (20%)
  • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution. (20%)
  • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures. (10%)
  • Champions a structured approach to business application solutions. (10%)
  • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture. (10%)
  • Assures solutions are a fit for the specific purpose and align with BTS standards for technology solutions. (10%) 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in:
    • Managing technology systems, including managing work and driving the strategic direction of technology systems
    • Integrating various components to create a cohesive solution (This may involve integrating with third-party APIs, legacy systems, or other software components)
    • Data integration, REST/SOAP API, SQL, data standardization, developing transformation logic utilizing an integration platform as a service (iPaaS)
    • Programming languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
    • Experience in application security best practices, including authentication, authorization, ReCAPTCHA, data encryption, field-level constraints, and implementing protection against common vulnerabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly and effectively with the ability to determine impact and resolutions
  • Demonstrated successful planning and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to multi-task and work well within tight timelines
  • Demonstrated organizational skills as shown in documentation preparation and execution
  • Proven ability to be self-directed and results-driven with a customer focus
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally, both technical and non-technical
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging 

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of change management and ADI framework.
  • An understanding oh Web services, APIs, and cloud platforms like Salesforce, Blackbaud, and Workato
  • Knowledge of non-profit fundraising, including payment processing expertise as a merchant working with acquirers, payment brands, and issuing financial institutions across the interchange
  • Proficiency in server-side technologies like Node.js or ASP.NET and databases like MySQL, AWS EC2, or Azure VM
  • Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA), iPaaS, and/or experience with integration tools and technologies
  • Nonprofit experience in data migration within a multi-tenancy/federated model.  Large and highly customized datasets (10MM+ records processing 100MM+ revenue annually)


Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 – NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $108,800 – $121,600 base salary
  • Geo 2 – Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $98,600 – $110,200 base salary
  • Geo 3 – Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $88,400 – $98,800 base salary

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.  Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
