The UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.

The CCAC is the only international initiative working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosts the Secretariat at the Economy Division in Paris.

More information about the CCAC is here: www.ccacoalition.org

In 2023, the CCAC was designated to provide secretariat services to the Global Methane Pledge (GMP). The Global Methane Pledge was launched at COP26 by the European Union and the United States. Participants joining the Pledge agree to take voluntary actions to contribute to a collective effort to reduce global methane emissions at least 30 percent from 2020 levels by 2030. As of December 2023, the pledge now counts 155 country participants.

Work under the pledge is ongoing along six focus areas including: the Energy Pathway, the Waste Pathway, the Food and Agriculture Pathway, Methane plans and policies, Data for Methane Action, and Finance for Methane Abatement. This work is being supported by six champion countries and many non-state organizations (supporters).

More information about the Global Methane Pledge is here: www.globalmethanepledge.org

In direct support of the Pledge, in addition to its project funding and work under the CCAC sectoral hubs, the CCAC has launched the Methane Roadmap Action Programme (M-RAP), which helps GMP countries to develop national methane plans using a transparent and harmonized methodology.
