Mission and objectives

The Ministry of Environment Lebanon, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is dedicated to safeguarding Lebanon’s environment and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Mission is to promote sustainable development, foster environmental resilience, and enhance the well-being of present and future generations by implementing effective policies and initiatives.

Context

Background: The project aims to analyze emissions data to assess environmental impacts and regulatory compliance. Objectives: To compile, process, and analyze emissions data from specific industries in Lebanon. To identify trends, anomalies, and areas of non-compliance with environmental standards. To provide insights and recommendations for reducing emissions and improving sustainability.

Task description

Scope of Work: Data compilation: compile comprehensive emissions data, including but not limited to CO2, NOx, SO2, and particulate matter (data to be provided by the Ministry). Data Processing: Clean, validate, and organize data for analysis. Analysis: Use statistical and data analysis techniques to assess emissions levels, compare against national and international standards, and identify significant trends. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, with clear visualizations (graphs, charts) and executive summaries. Recommendations: Suggest actionable steps for emission reduction based on analysis. Deliverables: 1- A comprehensive report on the current state of emissions from cement plants in Lebanon, including data visualizations. 2- A presentation of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Documentation of data processing methodologies and analysis techniques used.

Requirements

Required experience

Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering, Computer and Communications Engineering, Data Science, or related field. Proven knowledge in data analysis and environmental data management. Proficient in data analysis software (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB) and database management. Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards relevant to the cement industry. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
