Result of Service
The analysis of social development trends will contribute to the new UNSDCF programme framework and related analysis. The technical scenario modelling will support future and risk informed programming.

Duties and Responsibilities
1) producing statistical research and analysis on social development in Iran (identifying qualitative and quantitative trends in social, social capital and socio-economic indicators – and their analysis and reporting); 2) providing advice on the new UNSDCF process – including implementation and coordination for related events and workshops as necessary; and 3) providing advice on general RCO coordination, reporting and communication requirements (preparing humanitarian and crisis management reports and notes of meetings as necessary). 4) contribute to the preparation and delivery of briefings on socio-economic developments to the UN country team and the diplomatic community; 5) provide methodological support to UNSDCF Results Groups and to UN country teams thematic groups, in particular the youth group; 6) assist the RC and Head of RCO in additional coordination tasks, subject to availability, including producing high-quality minutes of internal RCO meetings and of UN country teams meetings.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in sociology, social science, development, economics and/or statistics. Some relevant professional experience in related areas such as research (and research support to) on vulnerable groups, livelihoods and social capital;
Languages
The fluency in English and Farsi is required.
Additional Information
1. Technical analysis, reporting and backstopping (as agreed with RCO Economist), undertake: • Statistics: document and compile relevant statistics (qualitative and quantitative) on Iran’s social capital and socio-economic development trends; and identify statistical good practices for assessing indicator trends and structures; • Analysis: as agreed with RCO Economist, a) produce a social capital and socio-economic analysis template and provide regular reporting according to the template (working papers; briefs; one pagers; etc); b) undertake scenario modelling (to identify structures of Iran context) – through various classification and regression estimations; c) undertake research on the macro policies relevant to national socio-economic development targets (and SDG frameworks); • Technical Backstopping: as agreed with RCO Economist, providing consultancy/advisory to the UNSDCF process as necessary (including drafting of agenda, background materials, invitations, minutes as necessary and also coordination, implementation follow and compiling of inputs up as necessary) as agreed with RCO Economist; • Workshops: as agreed with RCO Economist, conduct presentations and workshops along with relevant learning/training sessions as necessary. 2. RCO technical backstopping (as agreed with RCO HO), undertake: • Drawing on economic and social expertise and research to draft speeches and documents for the Resident Coordinator on topics within the expertise of the consultant • Conducting translation of technical economic and social policy documents in the area of expertise of the consultant • Participating in and minuting UNCT meetings • Tasks as requested by the Resident Coordinator and Head of Office
