JOB DESCRIPTION

Result of Service
The IC will develop all the required training materials including PowerPoint presentations, MS Forms Survey and assessment, handouts as well as group work exercises. He/she will conduct placement tests prior to the course and will place applicants according to their respective levels. He/she will conduct tests at the end of every course and communicate the results to the participants. He/she could be assigned other duties as well as additional training Programmes by the Chief IMTC or the Language Programme Coordinator as the need arises.

Duties and Responsibilities
– Conduct language classes to MINUSCA staff members and prepare all teaching materials and examinations material with logistical support from BRIA Field Office such as office space and other materials that will facilitate his/her work. – Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the United Nations Language Framework. – Participate in the course preparation and correcting students’ work as well as consulting with students. – Prepare placement tests and place participants according to their respective levels. – Engage in pedagogical activities (outside the teaching responsibilities). – Monitor and record attendance and report it to the IMTC. – Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning. – Conduct a monthly test to assess the participants progress and report the result to the IMTC administrative Assistance with the Language Coordinator in copy. – Answer specific needs linked to the general objectives of the Mission Language Programme. – Conduct a final test at the end of each course. – Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Education: A 1st level university degree (bachelor or equivalent) in French & English language teaching, applied linguistics, linguistics, and literature or language pedagogy is required. A minimum of five years of recent experience teaching French and English as a foreign language to adults, which may come from a variety of corporate, academic and other professional settings is required. Teaching experience at an international level in a multicultural environment is desirable. Experience in word-processing, database applications and in using the information and communication technologies to teach French and English as foreign languages is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written French and English is required.
