Duties and Responsibilities
Considering the heavy coordination demands placed on the Resident Coordinator’s Office in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the increasing various activities, organize meetings and events in collaboration with UNCT, UNSDCF Results Groups, and the government, including young interns in the Resident Coordinator’s Office operations and coordination efforts is considered a valuable asset. Recognizing the need for more support, hiring interns is an added value to increase the office’s capacity to manage and streamline the growing workload. These interns bring fresh perspectives and energy to the team and are essential in optimizing the office’s overall efficiency and effectiveness in coordinating tasks and event planning initiatives. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. – Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. – Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable. – Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable. – Strong preference for candidates that have basic knowledge of some editing and design software (i.e. Photoshop, illustrator, in-design) and good knowledge of Microsoft software/applications
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English and Farsi is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
