Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide. This position is located in the United Nations Global Service Centre, Brindisi, Italy within the Warehouse & Distribution, Delivery & Return Section, Supply Chain Service. The R&I assistants will work under the supervision of the Supervisor, Receiving and Inventory Cell. The United Nations Global Support Centre (UNGSC) is seeking to hire two (2) individual contractors for the support in warehouse activities related to the receipt and inspection of incoming goods. The individual contractors will be performing the following duties: • Assist in receiving deliveries from the MovCon Unit and verify the quantity and general condition of cargo as declared, receive and maintain records for all incoming shipments. • Support the inspection of equipment procured through vendors under local and interna-tional contracts and equipment transferred from Missions Agencies. Physical inspections include opening of boxes, containers, de-stuffing and re-stuffing as necessary and driving of light and medium capacity UN vehicles and/or Material Handling Equipment (MHE). • Support the assigned R&I team during the physical inspection, ensuring that the terms, conditions, and specifications of the purchase orders are satisfied, verifying that the equipment received matches the requests. Ensure that all anomalies or discrepancies found during inspections are correctly reported. • Performs any other duty assigned by the Supervisor, Receiving and Inventory Cell and the Chief, Warehouse & Distribution Unit (W&D Unit).
Qualifications/special skills
Education High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience A minimum of two (2) years of working experience in logistics, supply management, property management or experience in related material management or warehouse distribution activity is required. Qualifications A valid driving license type B is required. Forklift operator certificate (up to 3 Tons) is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
