UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Context

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. In the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes that struck the South of Türkiye on February 6th, UN Women has revised the activities to ensure that women and girls impacted by the earthquake are provided with multisectoral services and support for their immediate and longer-term needs and promoting their agency and leadership in the response. With the support of the Government of Federal Republic Germany, UN Women Türkiye will be implementing the project “Addressing the Urgent Needs of Women and Girls Impacted by the Earthquake for Multi-sectoral Services ” through 2024 to address the needs of women and girls impacted by the earthquake for multi-sectoral services. In that regard, UN Women works with partners from public institutions, civil society and other UN agencies in addressing the urgent needs of women and girls impacted by the earthquakes for essential supplies, information, psycho-social support and safety, while simultaneously working to respond to their longer-term recovery needs and restoration of their livelihoods. Under this vision, UN Women is working on the development of model of women-friendly temporary settlement that will be implemented in Hatay and Kahramanmaras, in collaboration with private sector and women’s civil society organizations. UN Women is also providing support to service providers working at shelters, violence prevention and monitoring centers and women’s counselling centers in selected affected provinces, to be able to cope with the increased needs aftermath of the earthquakes. Financial and technical support is being provided to local women-led and women’s rights organizations to remain operational and to continue and expand their work in the post-disaster context. UN Women takes part in the interagency coordination structures under the earthquake response, including in Gaziantep where the field level inter-sectoral coordination has been centered. To support this initiative, UN Women is in the process of recruiting one project assistant in Gaziantep. The Project Assistant works closely with the Programme Analyst in Gaziantep, field associates, rest of the Program teams and Operations team in Ankara and reports to the Programme Specialist (Crises Response). Theyprovide support to the members of the Programme Team in the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules, regulations, policies, and strategies. The Project Assistant provides programme, administrative, and logistical assistance to the crises response team and the local partners for the smooth implementation of the activities. Furthermore, The Project Assistant ensures consistent service delivery.

Task description

1.Provide Programmatic, Administrative and Logistical Support to the Crises Response: •Provide administrative support in the preparation of programme work plans, budgets, and proposals on programme implementation arrangements, including tracking the delivery of funds and audit of programmes •Undertake all logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for organization for meetings, workshops, events, and missions including travel requisitions and claims •Organize, coordinate filing of documents; maintain mailing lists and draft minutes in meetings as delegated •Support the Crises Response Team and the larger UN Women Team in design and formulation of programme/ project proposals and initiatives related to crises response at a humanitarian peace and development nexus •Support preparation of briefing materials and preparation of power-point and other presentations, in collaboration with the Programme Analyst •Identify sources and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches, and position papers, in collaboration with the Programme team. •Liaise with local partners including SADA Cooperative on regular basis to enable smooth administrative and logistical implementation of the project 2.Provide support to the monitoring and reporting of the programmes/ projects at the field level in Gaziantep: •Provide support to the monitoring and reporting of the programmes/ projects under the crises response program. •Follow up with local partners on implementing activities, including the monitoring of work plans and Report on daily basis activity progress •Perform any other duties in line with the above responsibilities, needs of the UN Women Türkiye Country Office as may be assigned by Supervisor

Requirements

Required experience

2 years of experience in / at the national and/or international level in programme assistance and/or administrative support in the humanitarian/development field. •Substantive knowledge of and experience on gender equality and women’s empowerment will be considered a strong asset. •Experience in the UN agencies and/or international organizations is an asset. •Experience in organizing events and trainings is an asset. •Experience in working with different partners (Governmental organizations, CSOs, businesses, grassroots women’s organizations) at the field level in the development and/or humanitarian context is an asset. •Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others). •A project/programme management certification would be an asset.

Living conditions and remarks

Volunteer Living Allowance (per month): USD 980, disbursing in Turkish Lira Entry lump sum (one-time payment): USD 400 Exit allowance: USD 100 per contract service month (when successful completion of the assignment) Medical, life and disability insurance: Cigna Private Insurance (including eligible dependents) Annual leave: 2.5 days accrued per calendar month Uncertified sick leave: 7 days for 12 months and 4 days for shorter assignments
