Result of Service
The land surveyor Expert /Geometer will provide the methodology for developing the land tenure plan and any recommendations for improvement are shared with the team and the national counterparts; provide training and refresher courses on the use of appropriate equipment; monitoring activities for land plan operations and implemented in accordance with UN-Habitat guidelines ; monitoring and quality control reports, including suggestions for improvement, at the intervals agreed in the monitoring plan ; DOCAD will receive the needed technical guidance and support with a view to strengthen their capacities to carry out efficiently land-use planning operations.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable cities, with the aim of providing adequate housing for all. UN-Habitat is the lead agency within the United Nations for the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. UN-Habitat supports Member States and development partners to transform cities into safer, more resilient and healthier places with better opportunities. She works with organizations at all levels, including all spheres of government, civil society and the private sector. The Project “Strengthening multi-stakeholder dialogue for responsible land and environmental governance in Lower Guinea” is funded by the Peacebuilding Fund over a two-year period (January 2022 – December 2023) and implemented by UN-Habitat, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the non-governmental organization ACORD, in close collaboration with national counterparts under the leadership of the Ministry of Urbanism, Housing and Territorial Development. The Expert Geometer will work under the supervision of the CTA (Chief Technical Advisor) for Projects in Republic of Guinea. The land surveyor Expert will perform the following tasks: Review the methodological note on setting up land tenure plans that has been drawn up to guide the process; Provide refresher training the relevant managers on data collection tools; Provide normative guidance and ensure the monitoring, quality control and evaluation of the process of setting up land tenure plans during its operationalization, from the preparatory phase through to its completion; Provide normative guidance and monitor the codification process with DOCAD; Produce monitoring reports, including recommendations for improvement, in accordance with the monitoring plan drawn up in collaboration with the project coordinator; Work in close collaboration with the project team, to provide DOCAD with the technical support required to ensure that the land tenure plan is properly implemented at the various sites.
Qualifications/special skills
A first-level degree or Bachelor’s degree in land surveying, along with registration at the Guinean Order of Surveyors/Geometers, is required. Candidates possessing a master’s degree will have a deduction of 2 years from the required years of experience. At least 5 years in demarcation operations and the drawing up of land and building plans is required. Experience of working with surveyors/ land conflict prevention organizations/ national land management institutions is required. Demonstrated use of relevant software and technologies in relation to land plan development is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written French is required. A good knowledge of the local languages of Lower Guinea is desirable.
