UNICEF JAMAICA goal is to help to fulfil the rights of every child.

We pursue this goal by partnering with stakeholders such as the government, non-governmental organizations, change-makers in civil society and the private sector to influence and improve laws, policies, and programmes which will impact how children access quality services. We are in a unique position to collaborate with everyone including advocates and service providers who work closely with children and their families, as well as the elected leaders who are responsible to ensure that laws and policies are in line with children’s rights. Most importantly, we integrate the voices of our children and adolescents by engaging them on the issues that affect their lives.

Focusing our attention on children in vulnerable situations, we have five priority areas in the Jamaica country programme document (2022 to 2026):

Everything we do is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Jamaica ratified in 1991.

Key Tasks

1. Supporting the establishment of the Steering Committee and the Interagency Technical Team of the Project, including the drafting of the Terms of Reference for its operation, the convening of its members, and the definition of work plans and budgets for its operation over the project life period.
2. Leading the interagency process of preparing the ProDoc according to the guidelines defined by the SDG Fund and under the highest quality standards, starting with the detailed review and adjustment of the theory of change and including all required sections and annexes.
   

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education

• A minimum of five years conducting planning, monitoring, or evaluation process in the social or economic development contexts.
• Work experience leading multisectoral teams.
• A good understanding of international development proposals.

• Fluency in English is required.

• Professional technical knowledge and expertise in international development.
• Knowledge about innovation, information, technology, digital transformation, change management, education management, and/or food security will be an asset.
• Experience in developing UN related proposals will be an asset.

• Demonstrated ability to coordinate teams and lead them effectively under tight deadlines.
• Ability to clearly define objectives and plan activities.
• Excellent writing and communication skills

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
