The newly established UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO)/Multi-Country Office (MCO) for Micronesia is based in Kolonia, FSM. It comprises a team of national and international staff focusing on strategic planning, joint analyses, joint UN operations, communications, partnerships and development finance. The MCO Micronesia oversees five Pacific small island developing States (Pacific SIDS or PSIDS), namely Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Marshall Islands, Nauru and Kiribati.
The United Nations Multi-Country Office (MCO) for Micronesia is based in Kolonia, Pohnpei Island, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and provides services to five North Pacific small island States, Palau, FSM, Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), Nauru and Kiribati, for facilitating their SDG implementation. Under the guidance and supervision of the Economist, the Online Volunteers will contribute to the research work of the MCO, specifically providing research support to conducting the UN Common Country Analyses (CCAs) for the North Pacific small island States, which will be used by the UN Country Teams (UNCTs) for supporting their efforts towards achieving the SDGs in North Pacific.
Research
We are looking for three Online Volunteers with experience in research and excellent writing skills. The task will include the following responsibilities: – Discuss and determine parameters for the research – Identify and gather sources – Conduct research – Develop a short report on the findings The average estimated workload is expected to include reviewing three documents (articles, studies, reports, etc.) throughout the assignment duration. The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the research team at the UN MCO Micronesia and learn about how research on SDGs can support.
Candidates should have strong research and analytical skills. Background knowledge and working experience international development is desirable. A degree in a related field is considered an asset.
