Mission and objectives

WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations, established in April 1948, with the objective of achieving the highest sustainable level of health for all people. The WHO Country Office in Bahrain was established in July 2021 as the 152nd country office globally and the 20th country office in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region which comprises 22 Member States.

Context

The WHO Country Office (WCO) in Bahrain is based in Manama, Bahrain, and provides technical support to the Member State to achieve WHO’s Triple Billion targets and to advance towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda. Universal Health Coverage (UHC) lies at the heart of sustainable development and WHO’s mandate and work. Under the guidance and supervision of the WHO Representative and Head of Office, the Online Volunteer will contribute to the research work of the WCO, specifically providing research support related to Universal Health Coverage, which will be used by the WCO to support its efforts towards achieving SDGs in Bahrain.

Task description

We are looking for one Online Volunteer with experience in research and excellent writing skills. The task will include the following responsibilities: – Discuss and determine parameters for the research – Identify and gather sources – Conduct research – Develop a short report on the findings The average estimated workload is expected to include reviewing relevant UHC documents (articles, studies, reports, etc.) throughout the assignment duration. The Online Volunteer would be offered a unique opportunity to gain insights into how research on Universal Health Coverage contributes towards achieving the SDG agenda.

Requirements

Required experience

– Candidates should have strong research and analytical skills. – Background knowledge and working experience in Health is desirable. A degree in a related field is considered an asset. – Experience working in the UN system or other international non-profit organizations.
