This internship position is for six months, starting in March 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities
The internship will serve the field office network under the Regional Office for South-Eastern Europe ROSEE), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Istanbul, Turkiye. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer of ROSEE and in close contact with the Regional Representative, ROSEE. For more information on UNODC, please visit the following website: www.unodc.org The intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: • Assist the Programme Officers of the ROSEE in monitoring programme delivery, support of further development of strategic programme frameworks, country profiles and work plans with emphasis on the SEE. • Draft correspondence and working papers • Perform research on specific topics and produce working papers, reports, summaries, analyses, briefings, presentations and studies • Attend and take notes at meetings, produce minutes and briefings on outcomes • Draft, translate in/from Turkish language, and prepare correspondence, documents and advocacy papers. • Perform other tasks as necessary
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); • Be computer literate in standard software applications; • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this internship, fluency in English and Turkish i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.
