THE COMPLEX:

The People and Talent Management Complex (PTVP), has the overall responsibility for attracting, developing, motivating, and retaining a strong complement of professionals, support staff and contingent staff to deliver the business of the Bank into the future. The PTVP Complex is responsible for ensuring effective systems and controls for people and talent management from talent sourcing to retirement. The PTVP Complex is also responsible for the effective administration of the Bank’s benefit plans (medical and staff retirement) and ensuring the financial sustainability of these plans.

THE HIRING DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:

The Talent, Performance and Staff Development Department provides strategic leadership in the effective delivery of a range of human resources management functions under the Bank’s People Strategy 2021-2025, namely Talent Management, Performance Management, Recognition, Learning and Career Development. It leads the effort to develop and transform the Bank into a knowledge-driven Bank, promote human resources policies that support talent development, drive a performance-driven culture and ensure the competitiveness of the Bank as the employer of choice for those working on Africa’s growth and development.

The Staff Performance and Recognition Division (PTCE.1) develops policies and guidelines to support all staff members on the Bank’s performance management system and oversees its implementation in all organizational units of the Bank. It puts in place processes for objectively identifying outstanding performance for recognition and appropriate rewards, and develops, implements and monitors performance management programmes and activities to promote accountability, delivery and a high-performance culture in the Bank.

THE POSITION:

Reporting to the Performance Management Officer, the Performance Management Assistant supports the Performance and Recognition function of the Bank and specifically coordinates all activities relating to performance management cycles, monitoring recognition activities, reporting and communications.


KEY FUNCTIONS:

Under the overall supervision of the Performance management Officer, the incumbent will undertake the following key responsibilities:

  1. Support the Performance Management Officer in all activities relating to the performance management cycle and activities.
  2. Draft performance management cycle communications for review and approval.
  3. Manage performance management data and send regular reminders to stakeholders.
  4. Prepare performance management presentations for review and approval.
  5. Draft performance management notes and communications for approval by supervisor.
  6. Work with HRBPs to monitor and track progress of completion of performance management activities at every stage in the performance management cycle by providing regular status reports and support as required.
  7. Prepare annual performance management reports for Management.
  8. Monitor implementation of recognition activities across the Bank, providing regular updates to Management.
  9. Support recognition and awards activities within Complexes as required.
  10. Prepare Recognition reports for review and approval.
  11. Draft Recognition and awards concept notes and communications for approval by supervisor
  12. Participate and support in the processes relating to onboarding and induction programs.
  13. Ensure the establishment, safe storage and appropriate disposal of centrally held performance management files.
  14. Maintain hardcopies (as required) and electronic copies of all records and correspondence to ensure continuity.

COMPETENCIES (skills, experience and knowledge):

  1. Hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree or BAC+4 or Maîtrise in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or other related disciplines.
  2. A certification or training in performance management and recognition implementation will be an added advantage.
  3. Have a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in progressive positions preferably with an international organization.
  4. Practical experience in administration of performance management is desirable.
  5. Knowledge of performance management concepts, processes and activities.
  6. Ability to effectively manage performance management and recognition logistics.
  7. Ability to build effective working relations with colleagues.
  8. Good knowledge of budgeting and planning are an asset
  9. A high sense of initiative, enthusiasm and good team spirit, good organizational and interpersonal skills are strongly desired.
  10. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment, and to complete tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  11. Ability to grasp and quickly learn internal systems with flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and the creativity in delivering solutions to business issues and problems.
  12. Ability to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously and to identify and manage interdependencies.
  13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to deal with all levels of the client organization in a diverse, international institution structure.
  14. Good presentation and facilitation skills.
  15. Strong time management and organizational skills.
  16. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
  17. Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English or French, preferably with a working knowledge of the other.
  18. Competence in the use of standard Microsoft Office Suite applications.  Knowledge of SAP would be an added advantage .
