Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will assist in the Coordination and Communication of the UNODC Country Programme in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. He/she shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: • Facilitate the implementation of official travel missions and associated project activities throughout the region; • Contribute to the elaboration of various written outputs e.g. background documents, presentations, briefing notes, summaries, talking points and speeches; • Assist in the creation, collection and formatting of communication materials for meeting and conference. • Contribute to the translation of country fiches, talking points, briefing notes and speeches for field missions, meetings and/or conferences and draft minute of meetings if required; • Provide design support across a range of print and online products; • Liaise with relevant stakeholders/colleagues to collect data and information related to implemented activities.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); Be computer-literate in standard software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable. Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
Languages
English or French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the internship advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required, good level in oral and written French is requested. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
