The Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) has an ambitious agenda for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Health). The country seeks to ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing across the life course, while undergoing economic, demographic, and epidemiological transitions. WHO in Lao PDR works to support and improve health in all areas, across the country.
The Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) has an ambitious agenda for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Health). The country seeks to ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing across the life course, while undergoing economic, demographic, and epidemiological transitions. WHO in Lao PDR works to support and improve health in all areas, across the country. In that regard, we are looking to collaborate with online volunteers to support in expanding the communication and visibility works of WHO Lao PDR, covering a range of health topics and activities. The online volunteers will use WHO’s style guide, as well as previous examples, and their own creative expertise, to develop written materials that will help WHO in Lao PDR to further promote its works.
Communication and social media
WHO in Lao PDR is currently working on expanding its communications and visibility work, covering a range of health topics and activities. The office seeks Online Volunteers with strong English writing skills to prepare a series of 6-8 written articles per volunteer, highlighting 5-6 key areas of focus i.e. vaccinations, non-communicable diseases, healthcare. The Online Volunteers will need to liaise with WHO staffs to source information, draft articles, and make edits based on feedback. The selected Online Volunteers will need to prepare material in various styles/formats including articles and media releases, as well as draft photo captions. Through this assignment, Online Volunteer will secure experience in health/WHO-focused content developing, writing style, and communications approaches.
– Strong writing and editing skills – Strong English language skills – Strong research skills, including reviewing technical documents – Experience adapting technical material into more accessible language would be an advantage – Experience with writing for the UN and/or NGOs would be an advantage – Familiarity with Lao PDR or South-East Asia would be an advantage – Familiarity with health/communications for health would be an advantage
