The UNDP Uganda Communications and Partnerships Unit leads Country Office efforts to position UNDP as a development thought leader and trusted partner in Uganda, across the region and globally. The team plays a multidisciplinary role to produce communications materials and resources, deliver advocacy and visibility campaigns, enhance partner and donor relations, and contribute to resource mobilization and development cooperation efforts.
The Digital Communications Assistant will work within the Communications and Partnerships Unit to enhance digital content production and dissemination. Duties of this assignment include: • Conceptualize and create a wide variety of high-impact digital and print products, such as banners, icons, one-pagers, information pamphlets, and banners to support any initiatives. • Produce high quality photography and videography content, including professional editing and post-production, for dissemination via UNDP digital platforms. • Produce video scripts, website stories, factsheet content, and social media content to build compelling narratives around UNDP’s development solutions and impact. • Prepare graphic and visual content for the development of videos and motion graphic products. • Format and design the layout of reports, based on the available content, data and reporting information, and input from stakeholders/clients. • Propose and implement creative and engaging solutions for data visualizations, infographics, maps and other visuals. • Ensure that all publications and other communications materials are produced in line with the UNDP brand guidelines. • Develop engaging animated and static digital advertisements, email visuals, social media assets, including ads, posts, shareable graphics, rapid response creative content, carousels, flyers, logos, and various design elements.

Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.
1 years of experience in graphic design, photography, videography, storytelling and digital communications. Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset. • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills. • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing. • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel. • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment. • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines. • Sound security awareness. • Have affinity with or interest in digital storytelling, communication for development, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Uganda is a culturally diverse landlocked country in East Africa bordered by Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Kampala is a vibrant duty station providing an interesting and enriching environment, but also requiring a mature level of security awareness. Flexibility and the ability and willingness to travel to rural areas of Uganda is essential for the assignment.
