JOB DESCRIPTION

The Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) is seeking an Associate to support the delivery of capacity building and training (CBT) programs and empirical research on development issues relating to infrastructure development. The Associate will be part of a team that is specifically tasked with handling projects in the domains of water and sanitation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of capacity building programs
  • Coordinate with government officials, development partners, and experts in Asian countries
  • Draft policy briefs, case studies, and other documents, with task manager(s)
  • Research assistance, including literature reviews and quantitative methods
  • Support the preparation of presentations for senior staff
  • Help with the general administration of programs and liaise with partners

Selection Criteria

  • Master’s degree, doctoral degree, or postdoctoral fellowship, with an excellent academic record.
  • Exhibit robust research and numerical skills, with strong proficiency in disciplines like engineering, statistics, and economics and finance preferred.
  • Bring a pertinent background in water and sanitation, backed by up to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills on policy issues related to development and capacity building
  • Good event management and organizational skills, and hard working.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in written and oral English.

Appointment Term

Associates serve for limited terms as independent contractors in a personal capacity, with an initial 1-year contract and a possible 1-year extension based on performance. The maximum duration of service is 2 years in total. Social insurance is not provided. Associates are neither officers nor staff of ADBI and work under the direct supervision of ADBI professional staff and the overall guidance and the overall guidance of the Deputy Dean (CBT and Special Activities).
