About this position:

The Transport Division of the Bank (INE/TSP) specializes in conceptualizing, preparing, executing financing, and providing technical support to the LAC transport sector in a wide range of areas including Transport Safety, Freight Logistics, Urban Mobility, Innovation, and Intelligent Transport Systems, among others. Core activities in generating technical value added to the LAC countries include in-house development and implementation of knowledge products to back its long-term interventions and to provide inputs for public policy decision making.

The Transport Division in Guyana (TSP/CGY) is looking for a Transport Consultant to provide technical support in the execution of loan operations and technical cooperation’s, as well as in the analysis, conceptual development, preparation and knowledge development and sectoral studies. Concurrently, the Division seeks support with the elaboration of specific analytical products to be defined by the Transport Division team.

What you’ll do:

  • Review evaluation reports for procurement processes and provide timely input and quick turnaround to provide no objection within maximum 5 business days to the counterpart.
  • Prepare technical inputs such as terms of reference and other documentation to support execution of loan and technical operations.
  • Timely support Tam Leader with portfolio management by weekly conduct meetings and follow-up activities with the counterparts executing IDB loans.
  • Prepare minutes of all meetings and prepare action plans to respond to identified risk and problems identified.
  • Weekly conduct technical inspection visits of TSP’s operations in Guyana.
  • Provide inputs to prepare business plans and budget for the achievement of the TSP/CGY work program.
  • Support the technical dialogue with sector authorities to identify potential areas of Bank assistance in the transport sector in coordination with Transport Team Leader and the Country Office in Guyana.
  • Support Team Leader with the identification, design, and preparation of loans and technical cooperations for potential projects that respond to the Country Strategy, seeking to strengthen the Bank’s multisectoral work.
  • Prepare reports, technical notes, aid memoirs, and meeting, as well as presentations when required.

What you’ll need:

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Project Management, Engineering, Planning, Economic with specialization on Transportation or related fields.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience; preferably civil engineer, with experience in Guyana
  • Languages: Proficiency in English.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Guyana or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Guyana.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration:

  • Type of contract: National Consultant Full-Time.
  • Length of contract: 12 months.
  • Work Location: On site.
