Your responsibilities
You will become member of the interdisciplinary target group (SY-STI-RBS) within CERNs Accelerator Systems Department, bridging across scientific fields such as nuclear physics, material science, atomic physics and chemistry. With more than 50 years of experience in the domain of radioactive ion beam production and numerous international collaborations in this field, you can find an environment to accelerate your career.
At the ISOLDE experiment, the Frontend and Target are key devices because they are the first elements of the radioactive beam chain.
You will support the design and prototyping for the future generation of these Frontends and Target bases.
In this position, you will use your knowledge of mechanical design and modern modeling tools (CATIA/SmarTeam) as well as your manual ability for clean assembly and test prototypes.

What we offer
About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world’s largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
Diversity has been an integral part of CERN’s mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
