Duties and responsibilities:
The driver coordinates the agreed work program closely with the reception team, under the supervision of the CO Finance Associate, but can carry out all the following tasks unsupervised:
• Drives the office vehicle for of transporting the WBG staff, and ensuring safety of passengers while in transit.
• Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required.
• Coordinates logistics for mission travel and other trips outside of Baku with relevant WB Baku staff.
• Delivers and collects documents and other items and delivers all local office mail.
• Entirely responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the office vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, lights, spark plug changes, etc.; performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
• Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, lubrication, etc. Submits vehicle log sheet weekly to the Executive Assistant for review and reports immediately if any problem is detected in vehicle operation.
• In the event of an accident, informs the Country Manager and Security Specialist immediately and follows steps stipulated by the law; additionally, files accident report with the World Bank HQ.
• Assists with the office’s document handling requirements, including photocopying, binding and filing, if needed.
• Actively supports the EA, office helper, and IT Specialist in keeping the office storage rooms in good condition.
• Assists with general office facilities maintenance and basic activities in support of meetings, etc., including moving furniture.
• Purchases supplies for office functions, as needed.
• Drives WB vehicles according to the highest road safety standards, safe driving, and consideration for other road users; adheres strictly to traffic rules and regulations.
• Reports all defects in the vehicle to the CO Finance Department
• Performs other related tasks of same level of difficulty and complexity.

 

Selection Criteria

 

Required qualifications:
• At least 5 (five) years prior experience as a professional driver, good knowledge of roadways, principal government offices, embassies, commercial establishments; driving rules and regulations.
• Safe driving record and excellent references with regards to road safety practices.
• A valid local driver’s license and up-to-date vision test.
• Primary and vocational education, skilled in minor vehicle repairs.
• Working knowledge of English language and basic written skills required.
• Some computer skills or aptitude is highly desirable.
• Prior experience of working with international agencies is highly desirable.
• Willingness to work after hours and on weekends is needed, as is willingness to provide support under crisis or emergencies, at short notice.
