JOB DESCRIPTION

Background

The UNDP country office is seeking two interns to provide support in a project with the Highland Sustainability Fund Secretariat (HSFS). The interns will work at HSFS for four days and at UNDP for one day a week. The interns will be engaged from April to June of 2024, subject to extension.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance and direct supervision of Accelerator Lab, UNDP Bhutan, the interns will mainly provide assistance and support, and deliver tasks such as, but not limited to, programmatic, operational, and administrative work.

The interns will assist in the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct secondary research to document best practices in event management, community engagement, and sustainability strategies, as well as desk studies of past projects relevant to the highland communities;
  • Support in creation of promotional and advocacy products, and outreach strategies;
  • Support in scheduling, budgeting, and allocation of resources;
  • Aid in development of social enterprise business models and support in researching financing reforms for HSFS;
  • Support the production of communication materials to highlight the achievements and activities of the project;
  • Support in mapping of potential private sector engagement and partnerships;
  • Provide coordination support to UNDP and HSFS to ensure efficient internal and external communications;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to conduct events, meetings, and workshops, record minutes, and manage correspondences;
  • Provide other ad-hoc support as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must at the time of application meet ONE of the following requirements:

  1. Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
  3. Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (1) and (2) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  4. Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Applicants must have first level degree in any relevant field

Applicants with experience in social entrepreneurship will be given preference.

Language:

  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English
  • Good level of knowledge in Dzongkha
