Tätigkeitsbereich

 

As a central internal service unit, the Data Service Center (DSC) at GIZ is dedicated to offering comprehensive data services and guidance to international cooperation projects. The integration of AI and NLP technologies holds transformative potential for fostering a more data-driven and evidence-based approach to development cooperation projects globally. The DSC assists in the collection, management, and analysis of data from a variety of sources, including textual data project reports, policy documents, audit records, and other relevant documentation. Through leveraging the power of AI and NLP, the DSC aims to enhance project planning, implementation and policy development, thereby ensuring data-driven decision-making across all facets of our work.
In this role, situated within a collaborative team of data scientists, you will contribute to end-to-end AI projects and prototypes with the aim to foster climate justice. You will have the chance to cooperate with international and research organizations, facilitating the Hugging Face ecosystem and publishing your work openly.

 

Ihre Aufgaben

 

  • Processing text documents into machine-readable information to enable comprehensive analysis and insight extraction
  • Curating machine learning datasets tailored for both extractive and generative models, ensuring they are optimized for effective training processes
  • Preparing data annotation tools to facilitate dataset creation and validate results, thereby ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our data sources
  • Training and evaluating NLP models focused on classification and information extraction, refining these models to achieve high precision and recall
  • Experimenting with generative NLP applications, such as summarization and question-answering, to explore new ways of leveraging AI for content creation and information retrieval.
  • Building machine learning applications that are efficient, and user-friendly, addressing the needs of our projects and stakeholders
  • Collaborating with diverse teams across GIZ to integrate AI solutions into our projects, effectively communicating results and insights to non-technical audiences
  • Support agile project work and operational tasks, including planning, ticketing, and presentation tasks, to ensure smooth project execution and effective communication within the team; Documenting all aspects of your work, from initial research and development phases through to deployment, ensuring transparency and facilitating future iterations and improvements

 

Ihr Profil

 

  • Hands-on experience in creating and managing NLP pipelines using Python, demonstrating proficiency in utilizing Python libraries and frameworks for text processing and NLP tasks
  • Familiarity with the Hugging Face ecosystem, including experience with its transformers library, datasets, and model hub, showcasing the ability to leverage pre-trained models and contribute to the ecosystem
  • Ideally, previous work involving Streamlit or similar frameworks for building interactive and user-friendly web applications for data visualization and model interaction
  • A strong interest in research-focused work, with a propensity for exploring cutting-edge NLP techniques and methodologies to solve complex problems
  • Interest in the intersection of data-driven applications and development collaboration
  • Fluency in English is required, German preferable; knowledge of a third language is an asset

We pay a monthly stipend of €2.134,52 (gross).
