Job description

 

“Promotion of Solar Water Pumps” and “Implementation of Energy Plans” are two projects within the Energy Cluster that support the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India. The “Promotion of Solar Water Pumps” project aims at the sustainable use of solar irrigation systems. Access to an adequate supply of irrigation water has a profound impact not just on food security but also on the livelihood of farmers in India. Solar-powered irrigation pumps offer significant opportunities to facilitate irrigation access in an environmentally sustainable manner and can also play a key role in improving the livelihoods of farmers. Additionally, the project looks into other decentralized renewable energy systems for productive use in rural areas to increase productivity in a sustainable manner and increase farmers’ incomes. The “Implementation of Energy Plans” project aims at supporting selected states in implementing their long-term energy plans which have been created with support by GIZ in the previous project. The selected states are now being supported with identified measures in order to achieve the defined targets.

 

Your tasks

 

  • Provide administrative support to the commission managers in the day-to-day management and coordination of the project and assisting in the planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities, including with GIZ in Germany
  • Supporting the project management with order management and the technical, content-related and organizational implementation of the project
  • Support in the updating of a results-based and context-sensitive monitoring system; contribute to the regular collection and analysis of data in order to track the progress of the project and make possible adjustments
  • Support in communicating the project progress to the funding ministry in Germany
  • Undertaking independent research, analysis and evaluation in terms of annual evaluations necessary to meet the module objective and outcome indicator and support in developing and maintaining the knowledge management structure for the two projects
  • Support in preparation of annual reports for the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and co-financing partner, undertaking specific studies on selected topics and expert opinions
  • Contributing to the preparation of information materials for the project, preparation of publications and fact sheets to present project results
  • Support in implementing project activities especially related to gender

 

Your profile

 

  • Completed master’s degree of Energy Engineering / Environmental Sciences / International Affairs / Economics / Political Science / or related areas
  • Good expertise in the field of renewable energy – especially solar energy and productive use of renewable energy
  • First relevant professional experience (incl. internships) in the energy sector and project management in Germany or abroad, preferably South Asia
  • First relevant professional experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation, in particular to develop a gender- and context-sensitive monitoring system
  • Strong organizational, communication and writing skills, commitment, intercultural competence and the ability to cooperate in an international context
  • Structured, goal-oriented, proactive and very thorough way of working
  • First experience in GIZ partner countries is an advantage
  • Business fluent in German and English
