Intern – Data Inventory and AI Pilots

The Office of the Director General- ODG – Division has five units: Governance, Partnerships, Strategy, Korea Liaison, and Communication & Knowledge Sharing Units. The ODG Division supports the Director General (DG) with partnerships, strategies, results, change management, communications, governance, and advisory services. The ODG Division is both internal facing, in that it supports GGGI as whole to fulfil its strategic vision, and external facing in that it supports the DG in developing and maintaining relationships with partners and mobilizing resources. The ODG Division ensures the DG is effectively supported to play his role as the ‘global voice’ for green growth.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Office of the Director General is looking for an Intern to support its activities in relation to GGGI’s pilot initiatives on data management, visualization, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Intern provides support to successfully implement this initiative. S/he contributes to the effective, quality, and timely delivery of relevant tasks necessary for the successful fulfilling of the Initiative.

The intern will primarily support (i) the making of a Data Inventory to identify and improve the management of critical data and (ii) the holding of an internal Call for Ideas for data and AI uses cases (pilots) in GGGI.

Under overall guidance of the Head of Strategy, perform the following tasks but not limited to:

  • Support the making of an organization-wide Data Inventory Survey & Critical data elements.
  • Support the holding of an internal Call for Ideas for data and AI uses cases (pilots) in GGGI.
  • Analyze data and information, assess results and draw conclusions.
  • Support and participate in the organization of project events such as Community of Practice, conferences, workshops, and meetings with Management team.
  • Provide support on development of communication materials such as PowerPoint Presentations, factsheets and concept notes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
  • Educational background in data science and analytics, computer science, information and communication technology and other relevant disciplines.
  • Previous experience in relevant areas of data science. The experience can include internships, volunteering, and unpaid assignments. The experience can be gained within a candidate’s country or outside desired.
  • Demonstrable interest in researching and implementing AI / ML pipelines.
  • Demonstrates commitment and passion to green growth and knowledge of climate or environmental data through his/her academic studies.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, writing and communications skills in an intercultural context desired.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, ability to speak additional language pertaining to GGGI’s countries would be a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience of data engineering, setting up and using databases/data warehouses/ data lakes and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., BigQuery, AWS, Azure, Snowflake etc.) is an advantage.
