1.     Organizational Context

 

 

 

 

a.    Organizational Setting

 

 

 

 

The position is located in the HR Data and Technology Unit of the Human Resources Operations Service, Human Resources Management Department. The HR Data and Technology Unit leads the digital transformation efforts of HRMD by leveraging the power of data and technology to deliver people-centric solutions that enable informed decisions, effective business processes that meet the HR-related needs of business, and facilitates the coordination, implementation and maintenance of HR-related data and IT-solutions.

 

 

 

 

b.    Purpose Statement

 

 

 

 

The Business Analyst is expected to develop effective reporting tools for HR data and analytics on talent management, to support redesigning and digitalization of HR-related business processes and to lead and coordinate the development of HR-related data and IT solutions, in close cooperation with the business owners and WIPO’s IT system delivery teams.

 

 

 

 

c.    Reporting Lines

 

 

 

 

The Business Analyst reports to the Manager, HR Data and Technology Unit.

 

 

 

 

d.    Work Relations

 

 

 

 

S/he works closely with colleagues from the Talent Management Service and HR Operations as well as other stakeholders across the Organization, especially with WIPO’s IT system delivery teams.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.     Duties and Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

 

 

 

 

a.  Contribute to the development of a strategic vision and roadmap for people analytics to provide HRMD and business leaders with greater access and visibility to human capital data and analytics.

 

 

 

 

b.  Build awareness of analytics solutions and best practices to foster the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across HRMD.

 

 

 

 

c.  Identify needs in relation to data collections, analyze talent management data, develop models, identify trends, generate insights and apply story-telling approaches, that contribute to the organizations capacity to make data-driven decisions on HR-related matters.

 

 

 

 

d.  Design, prototype, test and implement effective reporting and data-visualization tools in close cooperation with WIPO’s IT system delivery teams, that provide HRMD, WIPO business leaders and external stakeholders with the necessary insights on human capital data and analytics.

 

 

 

e.  Coordinate the development, production, automation, maintenance and delivery of regular people metrics and reports, to monitor KPIs and dashboards to help influence and drive strategy and take informed decisions.

 

 

 

 

f.   Analyze and document current HR-related business processes, IT solutions and user journeys, propose improvements and optimizations for streamlining those and identify indicators to measure benefits.

 

 

 

 

g.  Propose and implement suitable tools and techniques including further automation of employee and manager self-service processes to enhance employee experience.

 

 

 

 

h.  Identify and analyze evolving business needs, gather and document user requirements for HR-related IT tools, work in close cooperation with WIPO’s IT system delivery teams on drafting related technical specifications, prototyping, user testing and implementation of necessary changes to HR-related IT solutions to ensure that tools are built and enhanced according to business needs.

3.     Requirements

 

 

 

 

Education (Essential)

 

First-level university degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics or related field. Any other first-level university degree complemented by relevant experience may be considered.

 

 

 

 

Experience (Essential)

 

At least six years of relevant professional work experience, of which at least two years in working with HR data, in the business intelligence and/or people analytics fields.

 

 

 

 

Experience in analyzing a wide range of HR metrics and/or talent data, developing data models, identifying trends and generating insights.

 

 

 

 

Experience in analyzing and improving HR-IT systems and processes, in particular, in supporting an HR function in its digital transformation.

 

 

 

 

Experience in developing dashboards using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

 

 

 

 

Experience (Desirable)

 

Experience with agile project methodologies.

 

 

 

 

Experience in using tools to document Use Case Diagrams, Data and Process Flow Diagrams etc.

 

 

 

 

Language (Essential)

 

Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.

 

 

 

 

Language (Desirable)

 

Knowledge of other UN official languages, particularly French.

Mobility:  WIPO staff members are international civil servants subject to the authority of the Director General and may be assigned to any activities, office or duty station of the Organization.  Accordingly, the selected candidate may be required to move from time to time to new functions and/or to another duty station.

 

 

 

 

Annual salary:

 

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment.  Please note that this estimate is for information only.  The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice.  The figures quoted below are based on the April 2024 rate of 84.8%

Additional Information

 

 

 

 

* Initial fixed-term appointment of two years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and other applicable conditions.  The selected candidate’s appointment will be subject to an overall term of five years in this position, with no possibility of renewal beyond that term.  S/he may, however, apply and be considered for other positions at WIPO.

 

This is not applicable to WIPO staff members on fixed-term, continuing or permanent appointments, who were recruited following a competition under Staff Regulation 4.10 (“Appointment Boards”).
