Community Health Research Worker (Adv#119/2024)

The Program of Enteric Infections and Vaccines under the Infectious Diseases Division conducts research with Mucosal Immunology and Vaccinology Unit (MIVU) for immunological and molecular genomic analyses for different enteric organisms. To achieve this goal icddr,b is working for controlling enteric infections, detecting and controlling emerging and re-emerging infections with the collaboration of the relevant government and non-government stakeholders.

The Community Health Research Worker reporting to the Senior Research Investigator/Medical Officer under the Infectious Diseases Division will be mainly responsible for sample collection, on field sample processing, transportation and data collection within the guidelines of project-specific research procedures and organizational values. The specific areas of responsibilities are detailed below:

Understand project scope, activities, timelines, targets, areas, scope of work etc. as per project requirements;
Receive project assignment from supervisor and implement as per project plan;
Perform regular project activities including sample collection, regular listing of diarrheal patients;
On site Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) of Cholera;
Understand and navigate GIS based map;
Data collection using TAB;
Maintain supply of instruments and logistics required for testing and sample collection;
Proper monitoring and documentation of stocks and other logistics used for project-related activities;
Raise requisition for logistics instruments and other commodities on time;
Organize and preserve different official documents/consents/records/files;
Participate in OCV Campaign related activities;
Support team for executing project-related day-to-day tasks in accordance with project protocol;
Escalate any issues to the supervisor for his/her guidance.

Required qualification and experience:

SSC passed or equivalent;
2 years of experience in relevant field; Candidates having experience working in cholera surveillance activities will get preference.

Location: Different districts of Bangladesh

Number of Positions: 08

Contract Type and duration:

Short Term Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis; duraton will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

Tk.30,292/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
