Report to: Innovation Senior Specialist

We are looking for a creative, results-driven, and strategic Innovation Consultant. As an Innovation Consultant you will contribute to the scoping, and delivery of design, strategy, and digital transformation processes, and introduce tools and methodologies that drive creative thinking to successfully support the innovation and creativity agenda of the Bank.

You will work in the Innovation and Creativity Division, part of the Knowledge, Innovation, and Communication department. This team is responsible for strengthening the Bank’s internal capacities to innovate through raising awareness, building capacity, and developing innovative and creative products to development challenges. We collect and disseminate lessons learned from innovative practices; design and implement capacity building products for IDB Group teams, while leveraging strategic partnerships with the private sector and academia to catalyze innovation; and facilitate the design of innovative products which have the potential to be replicable and scalable in the Latin American and Caribbean region through the adoption of disruptive technologies and creativity.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate and run innovation processes and other shorter interventions as innovation sprints (1-3 weeks) as needed, both for development and corporate challenges of the IDB.
    • Identify user needs: Conduct new project conversations with corporate or sector teams and craft project proposals based on identified needs, applying techniques for conducting user research and gathering insights.
    • Analyze and synthesize user data to identify pain points and needs.
    • Ideation and Prototyping: apply creative ideation techniques for generating innovative ideas and rapid prototyping methods to visualize concepts and gather feedback.
    • Testing and Iteration: apply strategies for conducting user testing and obtaining meaningful feedback.
    • Incorporate feedback into iterative design improvements.
  • Integrate Human Centered Design methodologies into the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure user-centric solutions.
  • Provide input and advice on the design and facilitate workshops for multiple audiences.
  • Track and support projects and teams under agile frameworks.
  • Synthetizing research insights into engaging narratives, maps, and frameworks.

  • Create data visualizations, presentations and other visual narrative products that foster innovative thinking and cultural change.
  • Design and create processes with their corresponding visual and communication compelling materials during different phases and collaborative spaces of specific innovation methodologies, such as design research, prototyping workshops, testing or generative sessions.
  • Promote and influence teams within the Bank to challenge conventional practices and instill an innovation mindset into decision-making processes and projects.
  • Track and evaluate the progress of innovation activities and adjust the pace or direction of projects in accordance with the strategic priorities and client needs.
  • What you’ll need:
  • Education: Hold a master’s degree or equivalent bachelor’s degree “Licenciatura” / advanced degree/specialization in Transdisciplinary Design, Strategic Design, Design for Social Innovation, Service Design, Social Sciences, Engineering, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design or equivalent discipline, Human-centered design/design thinking/design management, User experience, Innovation design/Product design, Entrepreneurship.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years working in design / innovation consultancies or similar firms.
  • Languages: You are fluent (oral and written) in both English and Spanish. Additional knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.

Key Skills:

  • You have proven project management skills, including but not limited to communication, planning, risk, tasks and cost management, negotiation, critical thinking, and quality management.
  • You are results oriented and keep yourself updated in new innovation approaches and methodologies.
  • You have experience in:
    • Deploying innovation methodologies to facilitate design thinking and/or piloting processes for solutions.
    • Designing and facilitating co-design innovation workshops.
    • Using online collaboration tools for workshops and remote innovation work.
    • Presenting ideas in a visually appealing manner.
    • Working in multi-disciplinary and/or cross-sector teams, with demonstrated integration skills.
    • You have an established network of connections with innovation ecosystems.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Mexico or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Mexico.
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.
