JOB PURPOSE

To provide direct analytical support to on-going surveys and other primary data products while also helping to identify information gaps and solutions, including the possibility of establishing an mVAM function within the Country Office.

In addition, to provide support to strengthen the capacities of the national VAM team and counterparts, where possible.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

The Staff Member will be responsible for the following areas:

1. Primary Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee all aspects of primary data collection,including sampling, questionnaire design, and data collection using MODA. Manage and analyze data using SPSS, ensuring accurate data visualization and reporting tailored to various audiences.
2. mVAM Strategy Development and Implementation: Develop a comprehensive strategy for mVAM in Pakistan CO, prioritizing near-real-time situation monitoring, market analysis,and commodity movement mapping. Collaborate with other UN agencies to expand
mVAM usage and effectiveness.
3. Real-Time Market Monitoring Enhancement: Strengthen real-time market monitoring and reporting systems, particularly for early warning purposes. Collaborate with the VAM team to assess existing market data, identify gaps, and develop strategies to fill them, including through mVAM price monitoring or alternative channels. Enhance the timeliness and relevance of market monitor reports.
4. Focused Research Design and Implementation: Collaborate with the program team to design and execute targeted research activities, including studies on intrahousehold food access, food taboos, household-level food security and nutrition relationships, and the impact of livelihood programs on incomes and women’s empowerment.
5. Capacity Strengthening: Develop and implement capacity-strengthening initiatives forthe team in all the aforementioned areas, providing training, mentorship, and resources to enhance skills and knowledge.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Advanced University degree (recognised by https://www.whed.net/home.php) in one of the following fields: Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Economics, Performance Management, Monitoring and Evaluation and other related fields, or First University degree (recognised by https://www.whed.net/home.php) with additional 2 years of relevant work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience
 Minimum of three years of relevant professional level work experience in development or humanitarian work such as Monitoring, Evaluation, Programme/project design and/or management, needs assessment, research, reporting, etc
 Experience in using a variety of quantitative and qualitative analytical tools, methods and approaches.
 Experience in training/capacity building for data analysis, presenting results and reporting for different audiences.
 Previous experience in WFP VAM and monitoring functions, in the areas of field monitoring and evaluation methods, metrics, statistical applications, and reporting
systems.

Knowledge & skills:
 Expert in analyzing primary data using software such as SPSS, STATA, or R.
 Experience working with WFP or other UN agencies in food and nutrition security.
 Ability to work with secondary data, consolidating information from various sources and synthesizing concisely for advocacy and decision-making.
 Expertise in survey/study design, including sampling, tools development, etc. for both standard surveys and for monitoring systems.

Language
Fluency (level C) in English language.
