The Pension and Endowments Department (PEN) manages over $40 billion US dollars invested across the spectrum of asset classes, from fixed income to private equity and hedge funds.  The Pension Administration Division (PENAD) is part of (PEN) and has two teams located in the Bank’s offices Washington, DC and Chennai, India.  PENAD provides a full range of support functions for the administration of the Staff Retirement Plan (SRP), the Retired Staff Benefits Plan (RSBP) and the Post-Employment Benefit Plan (PEBP). These Plans cover approximately 18,000 active staff and 10,000 retirees around the world.  PENAD determines and administers payment of pension benefits to retirees in U.S. dollars and foreign currencies, accounts for the pension benefit payments, and provides a comprehensive educational program to disseminate the Staff Retirement Plan provisions to participants in the headquarters and country offices.

Duties and Accountabilities

The Financial Analyst is a key member of the team. The work implies frequent interaction with internal counterparts in Treasury, Legal, Accounting/Tax and Human Resources.  The duties include:

 Resolving issues, and providing information related to the Staff Retirement Plan (the Plan) through in-person contacts,  correspondence and telephone conversations with active staff members, retirees and other beneficiaries;
 Presenting the intricacies of the pension plan to an audience of local and international staff;
 Processing and calculating pension benefit payments made under the Plan at the request of active participants and prepare certifications as requested by participants;
 Computing and analyzing data related to pension benefits processing and projections;
 Reviewing and monitoring financial transactions to meet Pension Administration  payment requirements;
 Reviewing and drafting communication materials to participants on Pension Plan provisions;
 Coordinating and following up of internal and external audits;
 Serving as project manager on various projects;
 Identifying systems problems and recommending enhancements and opportunities for automation
 Performing testing and UAT sign-off for system enhancements;
 Undertaking ad hoc projects and special assignments as required.

Selection Criteria

 Master’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (4 years of experience for Bachelors’ degree holders)
 Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or relevant field. A professional qualification in accountancy or benefits administration (CPA, CA, CIA, CFA, PHR, SPHR)
 Hands-on experience with administration of a global pension plan and familiarity with defined benefit plans
 Demonstrated ability to independently respond to extensive and diverse inquiries and make decisions when multiple courses of action are possible
 Ability to process, handle, and communicate matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.
 A formidable team player with the confidence to interact at all levels of an organization
 Demonstrated initiative in developing practical approaches that will improve business processes and the effectiveness of unit/team.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including writing business reports and the ability to make presentations on pension-related topics to an audience of international staff.
 Excellent interpersonal skills and mature judgment with the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with internal/external contacts at all levels in a multicultural environment.
 Experience with PeopleSoft modules and SAP FI (financial module is desirable).
 Proven skills in the latest information/office technology and other relevant business tools (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Power BI, Power Automate).
 Positive attitude, high degree of initiative and reliability.
