UNICEF’s Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.
GSSC has won the 2019 Business Services Firm of the Year in Hungary, one of 26 regional awards announced at the Central and Eastern European Business Services Summit & Awards held in Warsaw, Poland.
The Global Shared Services Centre HR Administration Section delivers HR support and services to UNICEF staff and offices globally in the areas of Onboarding, Offboarding, Job Classification and processing of Benefits & Entitlement through the career life cycle of staff members.
The section also provides HR Administration support to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which is based in Geneva. The services provided by HR Administration Section optimizes organizational effectiveness and consistency, promotes positive client experience, improves quality assurance of HR services, and allows staff in the field to focus on delivering results for the UN.
How can you make a difference?
The partnership with ITU underscores UNICEF’s efforts in the realization of the UN efficiency agenda reflected in the General Assembly resolution 72/279 on the repositioning of the UN development system. The efficiency agenda aims to realize cost avoidance and performance improvement by harmonizing, centralizing, and consolidating the use of resources to generate efficiencies in financial and quality terms, to be redeployed as part of programmes to better support the 2030 Agenda.
The support services shall be provided in accordance with ITU’s applicable rules, regulations and procedures, as guided by ITU, including in relation to policy implementation and interpretation of such rules, regulations and procedures.
The effectiveness of the support provided by the Human Resources Assistant results in the timely, equitable, transparent, and systematic administration of all human resource matters regarding benefits, entitlements, contract renewals and termination to short-term staff and consultants.
Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:
1. Maintain ITU staff personnel records
2. Prepare, review and maintain filing system for routine Human Resources documents.
3. Liaise with divisions and offices for accuracy and completeness of information.
4. Provide overall administrative support to the Human Resources Unit.
