Plan International Sudan aims to respond effectively, rapidly, and at a significant scale to the core humanitarian needs of children and their families affected by the conflict between the armed forces in Sudan. Specifically, Plan International Sudan aims to minimize disruption to formal and non-formal education systems and to restore formal education services; strengthen the proactive environment for children and their families including age and gender-appropriate services during and after disasters; create opportunities for and build capacity of young people affected by the armed conflict to generate income and to improve their life skills; and to become recognized actor in both in linking related community-based interventions to national coordination and interagency mechanisms where Plan International Sudan will gradually take on leadership functions.

The CPiE Specialist will provide strategic direction on Child Protection in emergency interventions in the Plan Sudan Programs implemented in the country. The post holder supports Program Area (PA) CPiE staff and ensure child protection interventions are of high quality and position Plan International as a leading agency working on child protection in emergencies with a specific recognition of our girl’s focus.

The position will develop strong relations with in-country relevant CP cluster and regional networks (CPiE and SGBV regional networks), INGO, NNGO, UN and donor offices. There will be more attention on Plan International’s engagement which focuses on influencing and ensuring the specific needs of girls.

The CPiE specialist will provide support to the CPiE team or focal persons in the PAs and country office and will ensure that the Country Office and PAs have the right technical capability on Child Protection in Emergency by supporting the professional development of Plan’s staff across the PAs.

We are looking to recruit an individual who is fully qualified in Child Protection with experience in the emergency context.

The position involves overseeing

Child Protection in Emergencies within Plan Sudan Programs, including strategy, quality, stakeholder relations, standards alignment, technical support, needs assessments, capacity building, learning, partnerships, and resource mobilization. key linkage/coordination/interface across the country with 6 major Response Programme Areas (Kassala, Gadaref, White Nile, North Darfur, North Kordofan and South Kordofan, and the Geographical coverage area may increase based on needs and availability of resources). For this reason, the post holder must be able to master and manage relationships well and respectfully with regard to the different needs of different stakeholders, including conflicting priorities and ad hoc requests.

To succeed in this role, you must

you need strong networking and communication skills, effective leadership abilities, adaptability, and a solid understanding of child protection and humanitarian standards. Experience in emergencies, assessments, training, and fluency in Arabic and English are crucial.

Essential criteria for this role include

Knowledge of CPiE and GBViE minimum standards, Core Humanitarian Standards, SPHERE, Red Cross/NGO Code of Conduct, and other relevant international standards.

Experience in conducting CP assessments in emergency contexts and training/mentoring on CP technical areas.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

The holder of the position will be working in field offices and entails 60-70 % travel within Sudan CO Program Areas and occasionally in CO.
