Organizational Setting

UTF/BRA/089/BRA
The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.

Technical Focus

To carry out studies, with a view to technically subsidizing CGPI/DINOV/SAF/MDA, in the characterization of technical standards and identification of technological development demands, especially of machinery and equipment associated with regional production chains and arrangements of family farming, for the structuring and adaptation of equipment to its activities, but also with a view to strengthening family farming and traditional peoples and communities through actions that promote the expansion of their productive capacities and sustainable rural development, at the most different scales: Regional, Territorial and/or Local.

Tasks and Responsibilities

•    Define, together with the supervision of the project, the parameters of the consultancy’s performance, as well as the territorial bases to be analyzed in the North, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast and South regions;
•    Carry out a survey and characterization of the technological patterns of the different chains and productive arrangements characteristic of family farming in the different regions and territories of the country;
•    Systematize the demands for technological development and adaptations of the productive and ecological regionality in the scenario of climate change of the productive chains of PS and Traditional Peoples and Communities – PCT, in the specified areas;
•    Identify, based on the mapped territorialities and regionalities, successful cases in the interrelationship between the technological base used and the agroecological transition processes identified between family farmers and traditional peoples and communities;
•    Hold face-to-face and/or virtual meetings with project supervision whenever necessary;
•    Map and establish a correlation between the public policies available by the SAF with the production chains and the technological demands and their regionalities.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING: 

Minimum Requirements  

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Agrarian Sciences or Human Sciences according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge;
•    In case of having a Bachelor’s degree, at least of 08 (eight) years of experience in public policies for family farming or in rural, regional and territorial development. In case of having specialization and 06 (six) years of experience in the requested areas. In case of having Master’s degree and 05 (five) years of experience in the requested areas and in case of having a Doctorate and 03 (three) years of experience in the requested areas.
•    Working knowledge (level C) of  English or Spanish and Portuguese ;
•    Brazilian Nationality or other legally authorized to work in Brazil.
