Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship


The position of Communications Officer is assigned to the Office of the Chief Economist and Director General (EROD) within the Economic Research and Development Impact Department (ERDI). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

You will report to Deputy Chief Economist, EROD and may oversee consultants engaged in activities related to your role.

Your Role

As a Communications Officer, you will help raise the profile of ERDI’s knowledge work among ADB and external clients through communications planning and implementation, in close coordination with the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management (DOCK). . You will contribute to the production of multimedia products and their dissemination through ERDI’s websites and social media. You will provide art direction for electronic and print publishing products, ensuring that ADB’s design standards and software are in line with industry best practices; and support the improvement of user interface of ERDI electronic products.

You will:

  • Support the development and implementation of ERDI’s strategic communications plans and multimedia products and activities including publishing, videography, photography, editing, soundtrack production, and internal reviews.
  • Provide oversight on the ERDI publications website, establish standards, and oversee preparation of electronic publishing products, and serve as the publishing unit’s primary liaison with the web team and printing unit.
  • Work closely with the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management (DOCK) communications outputs across all platforms, including social media, publications, web, multimedia, and knowledge management.
  • Support, coordinate, and provide guidance in developing new topical and revamping existing web sites and ERDI databases.in coordination with content providers.
  • Produce videos, multimedia features, infographics, social media content, and podcasts including content and site management support (photo selection, layout, graphics, publishing, and tracking).
  • Conceptualize and prepare the creative graphics composition and layout presentation of various web content (including social media) and desktop publications.
  • Support the orientation of publications toward digital platforms and support for the ERDI publications published on adb.org.
  • Stay abreast of design industry standards and ensure that ADB’s design systems and software are in line with international best practices.
  • Supervise the Knowledge Dissemination team including consultants and typesetters in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Liaise with the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management regarding media outreach to raise awareness of the department’s knowledge products and services.
  • Lead special projects as required.

Qualifications

You will need:

 

  • Master’s degree in Communication Arts, Broadcast Journalism, Visual/ Multimedia Arts or equivalent, preferably with advanced training in video production.
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in communications, advertising, and/or journalism with expertise in multimedia production, web-based components, and desktop publishing.
  • Experience with website content management systems, infographics software, and digital marketing services.
  • Extensive background in graphic design, desktop publishing and multimedia development software such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Professional, and knowledgeable in HTML editors such as Dreamweaver, etc.
  • Proven track record of successful project implementation.
  • Ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary teams and promote teamwork.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English and local language
