The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE) invites applications for a home-based individual consultant position to develop a new online teacher training course in the English language. The objective is to facilitate the use of advanced technologies to enhance creativity in teaching and learning for TVET educators.

Under the supervision of the Chief of the Unit of Teacher Professional Development and Networking, the Individual Consultant will design and develop an online training course for TVET educators, leveraging the potential of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and interactive multimedia tools. The course’s objective is to enable TVET educators to embrace these emerging technologies, stay updated on developments, and effectively navigate the dynamic educational landscape. Ultimately, the course aims to empower educators to nurture creativity and innovation within their classrooms.

Specifically, the consultant will also support the implementation of the Unit’s project titled “Teacher Capacity Building with AI and Digital Technologies: E-library for Teachers.”

Long Description

In particular, the Individual Consultant shall:

1. Design a TVET teacher training course centered on emerging technologies aimed at enhancing the creativity of TVET educators in teaching and learning. The course duration will span 36 academic hours, and the programme must include detailed descriptions of learning modules, methodologies for enhancing teachers’ innovative capacity, academic workload, instructional approaches, and specifications for both formative and summative assessments. Submit the preliminary programme of the course to UNESCO IITE by June 28, 2024.
2. Following the approval of the preliminary program by UNESCO IITE, develop a comprehensive TVET teacher training course encompassing textual materials, tutorials, visuals, and both formative and summative assessments centered around specific themes. Additionally, develop templates for the Certificate of Attendance and Certificate of Completion. Prepare multimedia learning resources like videos and presentations with audio feedback to complement the tutorials, alongside text-based materials. Prepare interim assessments following each course module. Submit all course materials to UNESCO IITE by September 15, 2024.
3. Upon approval of all the abovementioned materials by UNESCO IITE, share all the course materials in high quality for the uploading onto the E-library for teachers’ platform. Once the course tutorials and learning resources are uploaded onto the platform, arrange at least two workshops and two trial runs of the course with TVET teachers to check the educational effectiveness of the course materials by November 1, 2024. Additionally, organize a webinar featuring field experts delivering keynote speeches followed by a panel discussion on topics related to the course theme. Submit presentation files, concept notes, and video recordings of the workshops and webinar, along with the list of participating field experts and course trainees, and feedback of the workshops in the form of a 5-page written report before November 20, 2024. Make the required changes to the course based on the obtained feedback by December 2, 2024.
4. Following the official launch of the new online course, ensure adequate outreach efforts are made to increase visibility and engage the target audience in the training. This includes publishing an invitation to enroll in the course on the organization’s website and distributing information about the training course across various networks. Share details of the course with a minimum of 20 global TVET teacher networks and teacher training institutions. Submit the proof of invitations to UNESCO IITE by November 20, 2024.
