In order to provide the necessary and appropriate services and to support to ensure healthy development of the children of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals in Cox’s Bazar (CXB), we are conducting a study to investigate how ECD unfolds and how to design programs and interventions for this population. The proposed study aims to identify powerful sources of risk and resilience in this very particular culture and context, to inform and support program to design interventions to provide the much-needed support to ensure healthy development and learning within limitations, and preparing them and equipping them with human capital to navigate a very uncertain future.

Job Summary:

The Field Research Manager will report to the Assistant Scientist, under the Nutrition Research Division. The position holder will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing research with the objective of conducting high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values.

Responsibilities

S/he will be involved in –

  • Assist the Principal Investigator in developing research protocol and data collection tools;
  • Create a detailed project plan covering milestones, deliverables etc. for local-level implementation;
  • Seek approval from Finance, RRC, ERC, AEEC on protocol;
  • Coordinate with internal teams to get resources to ensure execution of the project;
  • Develop training manuals and materials;
  • Supervise and monitor project implementation;
  • Monitor activities and quality control regarding the implementation of planned activities;
  • Coordinate with the local authorities for various aspects of the project;
  • Provide training to the field team as required;
  • Provide guidance for qualitative data collection and review collected data;
  • Report progress (in both qualitative and quantitative forms) to the principal investigator as required;
  • Secure financial and non-financial resources;
  • Work jointly with PI and other team members to develop manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals;
  • Conduct peer reviews of manuscripts of other researchers in order to support scientific manuscript creation while developing one’s own scientific writing abilities.

Requirements

  • Masters in Anthropology with good academic records;
  • Must have publication history (co-author/first-author);
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mixed method research;
  • Experience in conducting community-based study in rural Bangladesh will be preferred;
  • Must be willing to travel extensively to different villages of study area (Outside of Dhaka)

Location: Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

  • CSA basis for 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits:

  • Tk .1,27,664/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
  • Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
